Today’s Dadly Daily Declaration comes from Chapter 3 (titled More Fat, Less Sugar or Don’t Eat) of Aubrey Marcus’ book, Own The Day, Own Your Life. This chapter focuses on your breakfast. Marcus says do not think just about breaking the fast; think about breaking the habit of fast breakfast.
Marcus applies three Universal Nutrition Principles to breakfast:
- Sugar will fruc you up
- Fat is your friend
- Skipping is better than cheating
Those three principles translate to eliminating sugars and consuming good fats, such as saturated fats, cholesterol, triglycerides and omegas of all sorts found in unprocessed meats, dairy, fish, butter, egg yolks, olives, avocados, coconuts and raw nuts. If you can’t do either, it’s better to skip breakfast and fast until lunch or your mid-morning snack.
These three nutritional principles lead us to today’s Dadly Daily Declaration:
The biggest mind-set that we need to make is away from the idea of “breakfast foods” and more toward the philosophy of breakfast as a foundation for a set of nutritional habits. Think of your breakfast choice as an act of love toward yourself for the rest of the day. It was the Buddha who said, wisely, “To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.”
