Today’s Dadly Daily Declaration comes from Chapter 2 (titled The Cleaner You Are, The Dirtier You Get) of Tim Grover’s book, Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable. In this chapter, Grover discusses what it means to be a Cleaner; he further outlines his three-tiered system to categorize different types of competitors. Those types of competitors are: Coolers, Closers, Cleaners, or Good, Great, Unstoppable. Grover argues you can apply this tiered system to your co-workers, teammates, and workforce.
I’d advise for you to buy this book and digest this chapter. Some of what Grover writes may challenge your self-image; but, that is a good thing. To become unstoppable or a Cleaner, your self-image needs to be challenged. So, here is what I discovered today from this chapter:
A Cleaner’s attitude can be summed up in three words: I Own This. He walks in with confidence and leaves with results.
Being a Cleaner has almost nothing to do with talent. Those who reach this level of excellence don’t coast on their talent. They’re completely focused on taking responsibility and taking charge, whether they’re competing in sports or managing a family or running a business or driving a bus; they decide how to get the job done, and then they do whatever is necessary to make it happen.
I Own This.
