Today’s Dadly Daily Declaration comes from Chapter 15 (titled Sleep) of Aubrey Marcus‘ book, Own The Day, Own Your Life.  This chapter focuses on owning your sleep and how to achieve an optimal night’s sleep.

In this chapter, Marcus gives advice on getting the best night sleep possible.  His advice includes controlling your environment by:

  1. Winding down the temperature because we sleep best in a cooler environment
  2. Eliminating blue lights
  3. Powering down the grid
  4. Adding green plants
  5. Making the bedroom a no-friend zone

Marcus also gives a prescription checklist for sleep, including:

  • Don’t stress about how much sleep you are about to get; Sleep is not a daily task, it’s a weekly task.
  • Prepare your environment by eliminating heat, light, and electronics and bringing in plants in place of your pets
  • Prepare yourself by battening down the hatches, getting yourself into a comfortable position, breathing through your nose, and throttling down the fluid consumption

      All of this leads us to today’s Dadly Daily Declaration:

 

Do not abide the notion that you “don’t have time” to sleep.  Unless you are Chuck Norris on an important mission, heed these words of advice clearly: DO LESS, DO IT BETTER! A life well lives has balance, and a day well lived has plenty of sleep.
