The James Altucher Show featuring Steven Pressfield: It’s not too late to become the hero of your journey

James Altucher is an entrepreneur and angel investor. He’s also achieved the rank of chess master. And he’s the author of the Wall Street Journal bestselling book Choose Yourself.

In this podcast, Altucher interviews Steven Pressfield.  Pressfield is the acclaimed author of 17 books, including The Legend of Bagger Vance, The War of Art, Tides of War, and The Warrior Ethos.  Pressfield and Altucher discuss Pressfield’s time as a cab driver for years before becoming a best-seller author. Pressfield advises to follow your gut and not let time get in the way of who you’re supposed to become. Listen to Steven talk about the hero’s journey and how you can become the hero of your life (even if you feel like it’s too late, it’s not.)

One quote I really liked from this episode:

Just like the acorn got’s the oak tree in it, each one of us is born with a destiny, with a calling, and with an individual identity…Inside of us, something is ticking, our hero’s journey is ticking.  And it wants to be lived out.  Even if we are avoiding it through fear or living a conventional life, that time bomb is ticking.  It’s going to come to the surface and erupt itself into our consciousness.

Best Podcast 3a & 3b

South Beach Sessions with Dan LeBatard: Dan Patrick

In an interview over two podcast episodes, Dan LeBatard interviews Dan Patrick.  Patrick went from local news castoff to becoming one of the names and faces synonymous with American sports coverage. He hustled his way to CNN thinking he’d made it at $18,000 a year, only to have his journey put him in a position to unknowingly turn down $10 Million a year to Host “The Price is Right” several years later.  Patrick also goes into detail where his relationship with ESPN fell apart and how, after several years, he’s squashed the beef.
