Best Podcast #1

The Joe Rogan Experience #1250 with Johann Hari

A long form conversation hosted by comedian Joe Rogan, The Joe Rogan Experience podcast features Rogan’s friends and guests and has included comedians, actors, musicians, MMA fighters, authors, artists, and beyond.

In this conversation, Rogan discusses drug addiction, drug policy, depression and depression treatment with Johann Hari. Hari is a New York Times best-selling author, one of the most-viewed TED Talkers of all time and a leading journalist. His book ‘Chasing the Scream: the First and Last Days of the War on Drugs’ has been translated into 15 languages and is currently being adapted into a major Hollywood film, and into a non-fiction documentary series.

Hari’s TED  talk, ‘Everything You Think You Know About Addiction is Wrong’, has (along with the animation based on it) been viewed more than 20 million times. Additionally, Hari has written over the past seven years for some of the world’s leading newspapers and magazines, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Guardian, the Spectator, Le Monde Diplomatique, the Melbourne Age, and Politico. He has also appeared on leading TV shows, including HBO’s Realtime With Bill Maher.

Hari was twice named ‘National Newspaper Journalist of the Year’ by Amnesty International. He has also been named ‘Cultural Commentator of the Year’ and ‘Environmental Commentator of the Year’ at the Comment Awards.

Dadly highly recommends listening to this conversation.  We were blown away with Hari’s tidbits on Billie Holiday, the father of the modern drug war and Hari’s experiences with the drug war and depression.

Love this tweet and video from Oregon Ducks Associate Head Football Coach Joe Salave’a.

A father of a daughter and son and a husband, Joe Salave’a enjoyed an eight-year NFL career after being drafted out of Arizona in the fourth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by Tennessee. Salave’a spent five years with the Titans, split 2003 with the Baltimore Ravens and San Diego Chargers and finished his career with a three-year stint with the Washington Redskins before retiring after the 2006 season. He played 100 NFL games, making 28 starts, while totaling 82 tackles, 7.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He appeared in Super Bowl XXXIV for the Titans.

Joe Salave’a joined Oregon’s staff in January 2017 as associate head coach and defensive line coach. Salave’a came to Oregon after spending the previous five seasons at Washington State, one year at Arizona, and two years at San Jose State.

A native of Leone, American Samoa, Salave’a has been one of the territory’s foremost football ambassadors promoting the game among Samoan youth, including founding the Joe Salave’a Foundation in 2001 to help introduce the game and strengthen its appeal. The foundation specializes in free football clinics for youngsters in American Samoa and Hawaii. His work was recognized by Congressman Eni Faleomavaega in a 2005 White House ceremony hosted by President George W. Bush to celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month.
